Drifting down the Mekong River on our slow boat journey to Luang Prabang, there was a stop in particular not to be missed. I like to think of this attraction as being equally about the journey and the destination. A lazy cruise along the Mekong is a must.
The Pak Ou Caves lie upriver from Luang Prabang in a cliff above the water. Over the course of several years, the Buddha images left behind have added up. Now, the cave is filled with thousands of serenely smiling Buddha images varying in sizes and styles. This is kind of like a paradise for me since I am so in love with Buddha images. The shadows and silhouettes of the Buddha statues enveloped my surroundings as I explored almost each and every one of them.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos. I’d love to visit Laos someday but I think I may need several lifetimes to visit all the places on my bucket list (it seems to grow by the day).
Thanks! Laos is wonderful and absolutely worth visiting.
