It was an early start to the day as we walked the trail to Lake Matheson. It is known for its amazing and picturesque mirror reflections. The water looked like crystal clear glass and was completely still and quiet, except for the sounds of a few happily quacking ducks. I loved it – by far one of my very favourite sights in New Zealand. It was such a beautiful and peaceful place, everything about it was serene and soothing. There weren’t very many people around, but those who were all whispered to each other, completely matching the tranquility of the lake before us.
